School Completion Programme
The School Completion Programme (SCP) is a programme that supports young people who may potentially be at risk of early school leaving or who are out of school. SCP is funded by Tusla Education Services and supported under the Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools (DEIS) Programme.
The aim of the Programme is to support students to completion of the Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification or to achieve a suitable level of educational attainment, which enables them to transition into further education, training, or employment.
The SCP is one of three components within the Tusla Education Support Service (TESS), along with the Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) Scheme and the Educational Welfare Service. These components collectively strive for consistent national improvements in attendance, participation, and retention.
The Balally Dundrum SCP focuses on providing supports to targeted young people who identify to be at risk of leaving school early. The programme works with a cluster of schools which includes St Tiernan’s Community School, Good Shepherd NS, Queen of Angels NS, Holy Cross NS and Our Lady’s NS Columbanus. The supports include, but are not limited to:
- Homework Club
- Breakfast Club
- Summer Programme
- Needs Based One-to-One and Small Group Support
