About Our School

ST TIERNAN'S COMMUNITY SCHOOL is located between Dundrum and Sandyford, adjoining beautiful parkland.
At St Tiernan's Community School we offer a wide range of subjects, academic and practical, in a non-denominational setting. We foster the moral development of students through a school ethos based on respect for the dignity of each individual. We are alert and sensitive to the needs of students and expectations of society in a constantly changing world and we are innovative in modifying and designing programs to meet these needs and expectations. Most importantly, we encourage students and parents to become fully involved in the social, cultural, religious, intellectual and sporting life of the school community.

- Leaving Certificate Results 2016 -

The principal and staff of St Tiernan's Community School would like to extend our congratulations to our Leaving Certificate and Leaving Cert Applied candidates who received the results of their examinations on Wednesday August 19.
The results were excellent!  The students have done themselves, their parents, their school and their teachers proud. Many of our students achieved over 500 points.
A special mention must be made to Savva Zakharov who achieved 580 points.
Well done to all and, of course, to their teachers. We wish our leavers the very best in their academic and professional careers.

St Tiernan's UCD Entrance Scholar 2016

We are pleased to announce that our Leaving Certificate 2016 student, Savva Zakharov, will be acknowledged at a UCD Awards Ceremony on 17 November.  A commemorative plaque will be presented to St Tiernan’s Community School in recognition of this achievement.
 
UCD Entrance Scholars are first year students recognised for their academic achievement who have achieved 560 points or more in their Leaving Certificate (or equivalent second level examination).  These  awards are part of UCD initiatives put in place to recognise exceptional students when they join, as well as those who develop their talents while studying at UCD.
 
UCD’s top tier of awards is through the UCD Ad Astra Academy which supports an exceptional group of highly talented students including Academic, Elite Athlete and Performing Arts scholars.  The second tier is UCD’s Entrance scholars which include Academic High Achievers, Sports Scholars, Bord na Gaeilge Scholars, Choral and Symphony Orchestra Scholars.  Congratulations Savva!
