Business in the Community

For the past number of year St Tiernan’s Community School in conjunction with Business in the Community has been able to run the Skills @ Work programme. This programme provides students with insight into the world or work in a very real and practical manner. Our current partnership is with Zurich Insurance Company but in the past we have been partnered with Google and Microsoft. The programme is run in sessions where students gain insight to the working world through guest speakers. In the programme students are involved in team building skills, curriculum vitae preparation, mock interviews and presentation skills. Students who have participated in this programme in the past report learning real life skills and find that it is very useful for confidence building and promoting an attitude for work.
